Government Buildings

Why hold fire doors open?

Thousands of people work in and visit Government-owned buildings every day. It is the building owners responsibility to provide sufficient fire security and protect the lives of these building users. When doors are illegally wedged open to ease access or increase ventilation around stuffy buildings, the danger of the spread of fire and toxic gases is significantly increased.

Why wire free Salamander?

Installing traditional wired door holder systems often means major disruption, as well as increased costs. Installing acoustic systems means potential floor damage and false activations.

The Salamander Intelligent Radio Controlled Door Holder system will reduce these maintenance and staffing costs, at the same time as providing the highest level of Fire door security and control to protect staff, children and visitors.

Benefits

  • Highest level of fire security - All Geofire products meet the most stringent protection measures required at crucial fire exits requiring Category A protection, as defined by BS7273 Part 4.
  • Reduces wear and tear - Holding doors open allows restriction-free movement through corridors in line with the Disability Discrimination Act and prevents damaged edge seals and fire door damage.
  • Save staff time and costs - Reduce the time needed to monitor the building by increasing visibility, thus significantly reducing ongoing staffing costs.
I have been working very closely with Geofire in helping to develop their Salamander product including test installations within Durham University. The product has proved to more than surpass current legislation and has been most reliable in situ.
