  • I heard about the Salamander system from a friend who had seen them being used in schools.

    We purchased the system purely to improve the ventilation in our corridors, which were unbearably hot - particularly in the Summer!

    The product adapted very well with our existing fire alarm system and was readily available. We are adding additional holders this summer which will result in all our fire doors being on the same system.

    It has worked very well and resulted in us being able to reduce the temperature by 10C in places and also improve the flow of air in the communal areas.

  • I first heard about the system at a trade show in Birmingham 2 or 3 years ago. I saw the stand and the product looked interesting. It snowballed from there and I think we were probably the first ‘end user’ to buy the Salamander units.

    Salamander solved a problem for us. The change in Fire Regs meant that we were installing many door closers on resident bedroom doors. This was a cost effective way of holding the doors open.

    It’s a simple but innovative system that has proved itself very well. As well as being value for money, another great benefit is that once the control panel is installed our in-house maintenance teams can add hold open devices to the system as needed and as they can be afforded. No hard wiring is needed. This gives great flexibility to tackle customer requirements and budget constraints.

    Salamander is working very well for Barchester. Of the handful of problems we have had (across many hundreds of hold open devices installed), Geofire has been very supportive in solving any problems. In general though, the system has performed very well and we continue to buy and install new systems – so we must be happy!

  • We first heard about the Salamander system while searching the internet for an alternative to the infamous wooden wedge!

    Having used Dorgards I was disappointed with the performance, including additional costs for floor plates and the constant activation by such things as Hoovers, drills and floor cleaners.The Salamander offered me a cost effective expandable product with for want of a better phrase, no side effects!

    Since installation of the first system, probably three years ago now, I have no issues to report.

    It does what is says on the tin!

  • I heard about the Salamander system about six months before we bought it. We had a mixture of old and new buildings that would have been difficult to have a wired system. We chose Salamander, as it was the only reliable wireless system on the market which is reasonably priced and is easy to configure and install as a retro-fit.

  • Our Inn dates back to the 16th century and has recently undergone major refurbishment. We were determined that all works carried out would be sympathetic with the age and character of the property. Unlike other products which are available, Salamander is very unobtrusive and will not damage our new flooring. The technology is obviously very advanced as the system works perfectly through our thick walls – something which our wire free credit card machine can’t do!
